Cushion Covers at Nursery

At the nursery I work at, I added sewing into our curriculum with simple activities involving cardboard, yarn, plastic needles or tapestry needles, hessian - then eventually we built upon what they had learned and I brought my sewing machine into the nursery for us to make cushion covers with zippers. The children are learning the different parts of the machine, how it works, how to thread the machine, and how to use their hand-eye coordination. We put cushions into their covers, and now they live in our ‘Cozy Corner’ where the children go for a moment of calm.
