When I started working at a nursery here in Edinburgh, I brought my knowledge of sewing into the curriculum. Sewing with children is a wonderful way for them to learn how to self-regulate, experience community, express their creativity, and practice using their fine motor skills/pincer grip.
At the nursery, I do sewing with children aged 2-5, and it is incredible what they can do. We started here, with cardboard and paper, plastic needles, yarn - and now some of the children can use a sewing machine. You can find out more about our projects through different posts under the ‘Sewing & Crafts’ tab on my website.
