Sewing Toy

I created this sewing toy for the baby room at a nursery I work at. I do sewing with our toddlers and preschoolers, and I wanted to create a sewing experience for the babies as well. My goal was to include them in our sewing program and introduce them to the materials in a tactile way. This has helped the babies use their fine motor skills, their pincer grip, and it has helped them understand threading so that when they arrive in the older rooms they are more acclimated to the practice of sewing. An additional benefit has been that we can leave this toy out in our preschool rooms and the children can sew without supervision. Felt, polyfill, ribbon, 2025
